FAQ

I have Spanish public health insurance. What does this mean?

If you have public health insurance in Spain you are not free to chose the doctor you like. Every insured person is assigned to a medical centre in the proximity of their home. The doctors there work for the insurance company. Also, you can only go to the state-run hospitals and dental care is not included in the insurance. You also have to contribute to the costs of pharmaceuticals. That‘s why a private health insurance with a free choice of doctors and full coverage for all expenses pays off!
